01 / INVESTIGATION PARAMETERS

LIVE REPOSITORY REQUESTS

Address lookup sends this address to the US Census Geocoder. Matches use address-range interpolation, not rooftop precision. Review and confirm the coordinates before investigating.

SOURCE PRESETS

All sources · reports, stations, radar, warnings and surveys.

DATA REPOSITORIES

Station search uses up to three nearby sites in this state network. For border locations, run adjacent states separately. A successful request does not establish complete coverage.

REPORTING WINDOWUp to 7 reporting days per investigation · 12Z–12Z
Local saves stay in this browser. No account synchronization.
◎ City-center reference · not a property matchREADY / NO REQUEST YET

No source request has run yet. Weather values will appear only after retrieval.

Weather evidence report

Save a PDF to attach to your claim. Includes every filtered evidence record, source status, location and reporting window.

Run an investigation to enable the report. In the print dialog, choose “Save as PDF,” then upload that file to your claim.

03 / EVENT SEQUENCE

A timeline connects records.
It does not establish property impact.

04 / EVIDENCE REGISTER

EVENT / RECORD IDTIME (UTC)MAGNITUDEDISTANCE EVIDENCE TYPEDETAILS

Not requested only. Nearby weather does not prove conditions or damage at a property.

05 / SOURCE REQUEST STATUS

PER INVESTIGATION
No requests yet.

Requests are bounded, cancellable, and checked for schema changes. Failures remain unavailable; no empty-source result is treated as proof of no weather. Source hashes and reproducible query parameters are retained.

06 / THE EVIDENCE STANDARD

↗

Context before conclusions.

Preserve where a record came from, what it measures, and what it cannot establish. Reported hail, station wind, radar estimates, and tornado surveys answer different questions.

01 / Trace every record02 / Make gaps visible03 / Separate evidence types

Research prototype. SPC reports remain PRELIMINARY. NCEI archived reports, station observations and radar indications retain separate classifications. Point distances use a spherical great-circle calculation; diagrams use a local approximation. Potential duplicate clusters are flagged, not treated as corroboration. SWDI Level-III hail estimates are not MRMS MESH. Raw MRMS files are not sampled here. Survey points, paths and polygons retain NOAA’s preliminary status and source geometry. No property impact, damage assessment, or coverage determination is inferred.

07 / LOCAL INVESTIGATIONS

Snapshots include retrieved records and provenance. They are stored on this device only; restore never implies refreshed data.

08 / NWS CURRENT ALERTS

Not requested. This panel is current information, independent of the selected historical reporting day.

A warning is not proof of conditions at the selected location. Do not use this research prototype as an emergency alerting service.

HISTORICAL WARNING CONTEXT

Not requested. These archived warnings are separate from evidence of surface conditions.

NOAA MRMS / RAW RADAR ARCHIVE

Not requested. Retrieve actual MESH GRIB2.gz archive files for the selected reporting day. Raw assets are downloadable; grid decoding and location sampling are not implemented.

StormRooster / INTERVIEW WALKTHROUGH

From weather records
to informed questions.

This independent research prototype demonstrates historical NOAA SPC reports, clear source provenance, and responsible uncertainty. Confirm a location, select repositories, and run real historical retrievals.

  1. Frame the investigation. Choose a city center or confirmed coordinates, reporting day, and radius.
  2. Explore the evidence. Filter hazards and inspect individual records.
  3. Communicate responsibly. Export evidence with source URLs, timestamps, units, and limitations intact.

Connected: SPC reports, NCEI archived events, SWDI radar signatures, IEM station wind and historical warnings, Census address lookup, NWS current alerts, and MRMS raw archive discovery. Saved investigations and exports retain provenance. MRMS grids still require decoding before location sampling or swath analysis; durable national backfills are not provided. NOAA survey geometries remain preliminary.
